First Lady Michelle Obama hosted First Kids’ "State Dinner"

On August 20, the White House and First Lady Michelle Obama hosted the first ever kids “State Dinner” to promote the Healthy Lunchtime Challenge. The 54 winners of the contest were picked from their original lunchtime recipes that they entered on Each winner received a cookbook featuring all of the winning recipes from the contestants.

Winners of the contest came from all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and the Northern Mariana Islands. The kids were allowed to bring one adult with them to the White House lunch. Recipes were judged on how creative, heathful, affordable and tasty they were.
