the grand appearance

28 March 2009, Comments 0

oh boy… after 9 months of agony of waiting to meet little miss emory. at my last prenatal appointment on march 25, 2009, i was given a choice – be induced monday, march 30th or not be induced with the chances of emory growing bigger than what she was… seriously. what kind of options are those?

at the appointment before that emory was sitting at around 6 lbs, 8 oz… so in a week, she decides to pack on 2 extra pounds. had i waited til April 2 (due date), who’s to say that she wouldn’t have been 10 pounds + more. i just knew i wouldn’t be able to handle that! šŸ˜ i called Dr. Moore back later that afternoon and told him that i wanted to be induced.

waiting to be induced on Monday, March 30th was the worst. you see,Ā  i was so against using drugs to speed up my labor.Ā  so to avoid all of that, i went home Friday night (around 11 PM) and drank 2 tablespoons of castor oil! LOL!

by 12:30, I was on my way to the bathroom… it wasn’t so bad.
I was up again at 1:30, then about 3:45 was on my way again, and noticed a bit of cramping…

by 4:45 I was definitely in pain, but wasn’t sure if it was contractions or not. my water didn’t actually “gush” out like i thought or the Dr. said it would… instead it trickled… like i was peeing, but kinda controllable, which is why i was unsure.

by 5:15 – i called the doctor and she told me to go to the hospital! how freakin’ exciting for me… i had been waiting so long, and now it was time!

so i woke Tasha up and told her, “it’s time!” ~ LOL

she immediately hopped up out the bed, turned her swag on… got Eli & Malakai dressed and we all made a mad dash to Northside Hospital! oh my god – i didn’t think we’d make it! i was admitted by 6:30… and just knew i was going natural until those contractions reached 4 cm… ARGH! this is what i had been planning, preaching and screaming my whole pregnancy – thinking, “oh they’ll just be bad menstrual cramps – i can handle that. i’ll picture me surfing over the waves… BLAH BLAH BLAH!”

i got an epidural and immediately dilated to 9 cm!!!

epidurals are God’s gift!

my little angel was born March 28th at 12:21 pm. she weighed 8 lbs, 3 oz and was 19 in. long!

IT WAS LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!!!!
