the ‘elite’ is not a social level or category, but as a scatter of those individuals who attempt to transcend themselves, and accordingly, are more noble, more efficient, made out of better stuff. the rest of the population is mass, which, according to this conception, sluggishly relaxes into uncomfortable mediocrity.
